Brewing in an old dairy factory
You don’t have to be a beer lover to be impressed by the Texelse Bierbrouwerij. What happens there – just outside Oudeschild, in an old dairy factory to be exact – is a story of passion, craftsmanship, and lots of malt. Since 1999, they’ve been brewing beers that are just as headstrong as the island itself. And you can taste that.
Watch, taste, experience
Curious to see how Texel beer is made? During the ‘Texels Beleving’ experience, a guide takes you through the brewery, where you learn all about the brewing process, the island’s history, and the old dairy building that now produces beer. You visit the brewhouse, explore the Texel Beer Museum and discover what the “Texel Secret” really is. Along the way, you taste two Texel beers. In the tasting room, you enjoy a final special beer, while the shop has a Texel souvenir waiting – a fun memory of a unique experience.
The brewery recently underwent a major transformation. Even if you’ve visited before, it’s well worth going again. The tour has been revamped, the tasting room completely redesigned – it feels like an entirely new experience.

Skuumkoppe, Goudkoppe and more
Everyone knows it: Skuumkoppe. A dark wheat beer with a creamy head and a rich flavour. But the brewery has much more to offer. Like the refreshing Goudkoppe, the hoppy Overzee IPA, and the strong Tuunwal Tripel – each with its own bold character, brewed with Texel dune water. In the colder months, it’s time for the Jutters Bock and Stormbock, two seasonal beers that are perfect for the time of year. And for those who prefer alcohol-free, there’s now the Skuumkoppe 0.0.
Webshop with island flavour
Want to take some Texel beer home after your visit? No need to stuff your suitcase – though you can, of course. Alongside their beautiful shop, there’s also a webshop. There, you can order mixed boxes, gift packs, glasses, openers, sweaters and more. For anyone who wants to enjoy a little bit of Texel at home or at a backyard barbecue.

Just visiting?
The brewery is located on the Schilderweg, just outside Oudeschild. Not in the village itself, but easily reached by bike. Make sure to book your tour in advance – they’re popular. And for good reason: beer simply tastes better when you know where it comes from.
